I have been taking cars to Steve's (now run by Greg his son) for at least 20 years. He has worked on my Land cruiser, my ES and GS Lexus sedans, my daughters Honda, and now my wife's new Honda and now my new Prius. With Steve (and Greg's help) I got 200,000 miles on all of our cars with no reliability issues and at a very good cost. He has help me provide my family with reliable transportation at a fraction of what a dealer cost and with quality that a no dealer and no franchise (Pep,,,, or Good... or Fire.. or Nation.. you name it) could provide.  It really is hard to express the value you get from Greg and his staff but the most significant thing I can say is that you will not get a more honest hard working talented shop that strives to meet your needs. If you are just trying to keep the car running for another year, or if like me you seek reliability, Greg will guide you through the best most economical and effective path possible.  If you don't know much about cars and need to be treated fairly and save money you can not find a better shop. Cars are an essential part of our life in Atlanta and a shop like Steve's is an essential part of keeping a car running and saving money doing it. - Ed Soniat

Greg and his team are the most competent and honest guys I have ever met when it comes to the needs of my family's small fleet of vehicles. Steve's has seen us through a couple sets of cars now, and has saved me thousands easily by telling me that what I thought I needed was fixed by something far more simple and cheap. Highly recommend!  Connie St John

When I had my car inspected at a new place and was in search of a second opinion, so I called my nice transmission mechanic for advice. I was recommended here by him because he didn't specialize in what was actually wrong with my car, and I couldn't be happier! Greg was so kind and he seems to really understand how to deliver great customer service and achieve great customer satisfaction. Sadly, its really hard to find a trustworthy mechanic it seems, but I am so glad I found this place! I almost left it at the first place (won't mention the name) where the mechanic was going to charge me $600 to repair a part that wasn't even the source of my main problem. In fact, it ended up being the least of my concerns. Greg explained everything to me and how the parts worked, and why my car problems were a completely different issue. I ended up paying less than what the last was going to charge me for the wrong repair!  I am so glad I chose to bring my car here, and I highly recommend them!!  -  Joelle Davis

TRUE HONESTY ON THEIR PART. My step-mother has been going here since the late 1990's (Steve's has since moved to this newer location). I have been going to Steve's since about 2004, after her recommendation. I live in Atlanta proper and it is worth the drive to go to Steve's. I had an old Honda Civic that I was in denial over its condition and Steve's son (new owner) eventually told me I need to most likely get a new(er) car. I was forking over $thousands$ by this point to keep my Civic going. He was making money and would still have made a lot, but his honesty always comes forward. YOU CANNOT FIND THIS ANYMORE ANYWHERE. I feel well taken care of. This mechanic will always be honest. The prices are not the highest and I think they are pretty fair, if not on the low side. I'm a proud customer, even with my new car! I'm only doing oil changes these days instead of transmission replacements and catalytic converters, etc., however I am still treated just as well.  D Stewart Review

Once upon a time cars were simple: If the transmission didn’t shift right, you probably had a transmission problem. You took your car to the transmission shop and they fixed it. Simple, right? As with most stories that begin this way, times have changed. Today, when your car’s transmission isn’t shifting right, well, it could be the transmission, but there’s just as good a chance that it’s something else… something seemingly unrelated to the transmission.

Steve's Automotive in Marietta, GA is Transgo Tech Certified. Transmission repair has become more "Difficult and Complex" over the past few years! A classic statement, repeated each and every year since the beginning days of our industry. Not to diminish that statement "as it is very real" however these "Difficulties and Complexities" have always been and always will be a part of the transmission repair industry. All things considered the transmission repair industry throughout the years has incured many different changes, especially with the influx of instant internet communication and an industry filled with product advertising hype, which often includes "exaggerated, misleading and or outright false" claims.

Every so often you notice it: The transmission shifts a little late, or maybe it seems to miss a gear entirely. Then it’s okay again… for a little while. Worst of all, there’s no rhyme or reason behind the condition. One minute it’s fine, the next it’s not. So you pop the hood to check the transmission fluid level. Then you notice it: A big mountain of corrosion on the battery terminals. You’ll have to take care of that, but it can’t have anything to do with the transmission, right?

Prevention is better than cure. You've probably heard that said plenty of times. The phrase is most often used to talk about health and medicine, but it is just as valid to apply it to vehicles. It's great if your problem can be sorted without much trouble, but even better not to have a problem in the first place. This is especially true when it comes to your vehicle's transmission, as this can be one of the more specialized parts to repair. Not all transmission problems require an extensive overhaul, but they will all cause at least some trouble and inconvenience. Avoiding transmission problems is clearly preferable to even the problems that are quickest and cheapest repair. This is why it is important to ensure you take good care of your transmission. This will help prevent problems and keep it working smoothly. Ideally, it will mean that it doesn't develop any faults at all. Even if it does eventually go wrong, however, it is entirely possible that good care will mean the fault is less serious and easier to repair than it would have been otherwise.
